As Team Lead she focused on documentation and organizing tasks and deadlines. After graduation, she will be working in Industry as a Biomedical Engineer.

Mira Mira will graduate in June with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering as well as a Minor in Materials Science and Engineering. In the Fall of 2019, she will continue her studies as a Master’s student in Biomedical Engineering at the University of California Irvine.


Miami Shafeeq
Prototype Development and Verification

Miami A Biomedical Engineer graduating in June 2019 with a specialization in Micro- and Nano-Engineering. She has been involved in both industry and research aspects of engineering. Experienced in a startup environment and contributed to the development of a device starting with product development, through R&D, and to manufacturing. After graduation, she plans to advance by working in industry and compiling gained knowledge toward enhancing people’s lives.


Matthew Gonzalez

Matt Matthew is a fourth year mechanical engineering student who will be graduating from UCI in June of 2019. After graduation, he plans to integrate into the workforce, his goal is to use his collected knowledge and skills to aide in the creation of apparatuses that can one day play a part in making a difference in the lives of others.

Kenny Kenny is a Biomedical Engineering Senior with a minor in Material Science and Engineering. His background is in wearable sensors, polymer fabrication, and biophotonics. As the electrical systems designer, Kenny focuses on optimizing power transfer efficiency and FDA approved biocompatibility parameters.

Hengchu Hengchu Cao is the Engineering Director for Edwards Lifesciences, and provided advice through his years of experience in heart valve technology and general engineering projects. During his time at Edwards Lifesciences he developed many patents and inventions that have better the quality of life for many patients. Throughout this project he provided us valuable advice and insight into developing our device.


William Tang, Ph.D.
Engineering Professor Advisor

William William C. Tang received his BS, MS, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences from the University of California at Berkeley in 1980, 1982, and 1990, respectively. In 2002, Dr. Tang joined the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of California, Irvine and has served as the Associate Chair for Undergraduate Education and Interim Chair in the Biomedical Engineering Department, as well as the first Associate Dean of the Henry Samueli School of Engineering.
